LASER THERAPY IN MOLARS SURGERY IMPACTED: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

Resumo


Objective:to analyze in the available literature information on the efficacy of laser therapy in impacted third molar surgeries. Materials and methods: A systematic literature review was performed using a combination of the terms "laser therapy" and / or "impacted third molars" and / or "surgery" to search for the PubMed indexer. The following were excluded: reviews, case studies and reports, investigations that investigated under the age of 18 years or with samples smaller than 10 subjects. Field investigations that analyzed the use of laser in impacted third molar surgeries, published from 2013 to 2018, that is, the last five years, in the english and portuguese languages, were included. Results: In this way, 13 (thirteen) studies, published in the period from 2015 to 2018, were analyzed in english. A total of 479 patients were evaluated. Conclusion:There was a significant reduction of pain, edema and trismus, the latter being the least significant. Laser therapy proved to be effective in the face of analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects and it was not possible to perceive laser effectiveness in alveolar scarring, due to the lack of studies on this subject.
